CMS Assists West Clayton in Book Swap
Posted on 04/25/2016
Every year West Clayton Elementary school holds a book swap for their students at the end of the year. Their students are encouraged to bring in books they have already read and no longer want and swap them out for a "new" book. They tend to receive an abundance of books for their younger elementary students to pick from but have very few options for their older students, primarily their 4th and 5th graders. That's when WCES's kindergarten teacher, Haley Anderson, reached out to CMS teacher Stacey Carr to see if Clayton Middle School would be willing to help them out. The pair decided to ask our middle school students to help WCES out by hold a book drive geared specifically for books that would appeal towards their older students. In a week's time, our school managed to donated almost 1,000 books for WCES! This community service project ensures that all students at West Clayton will have an opportunity to read good, quality books this summer and it is an incredible opportunity to invest in our future students.
