Clothing Drive to Help Victims of Hurricane
Posted on 11/03/2016
As a result of Hurricane Matthew, people lost homes, clothing, and most of their belongings. Clayton Middle School decided to help the community by donating gently worn clothes to the school. Many students at Clayton MIddle School spoke about their experiences during the storm such as flooding, power outages, loss of water, fallen trees, and more. This event continued until October 21. The donations were given to Hinnant Outreach Center in Micro. This area of Johnston County was hardest hit by the hurricane. Students who brought in at least three pieces of clothing were allowed to wear hats on the 21st and the top three Pit Stops were given a popcorn party. They were Ms. Young’s 7th grade class, Ms. West’s 8th grade class, and Ms. Weeks’ 8th grade class.
