The Eagle Fair Finds SuccessFebruary 28th was not your normal Open House. The Eagle Fair gave families the opportunity to look to the future of their students’ education. With many of the 8th graders getting excited about high school registration, they often have questions about high school courses, scheduling, electives, athletics, and what they need to do to prepare for the next step. The school's goal was to provide information for students so they can prepare for the scheduling process, which inevitably generates even more questions . We invited local high schools, including Clayton High, Cleveland, the IB program located at Smithfield-Selma, Early College located on the Johnston Community College campus, and ESL office. The open house also showcased some of the offerings at Clayton Middle. Teachers provided families with the information about the CSI course, 6th grade motivation stations , volunteer opportunities, field trip information, CMS clubs, dealing with stress & anxiety, and internet safety. By setting up tables with information available to parents, they had the opportunity to ask specific questions and seek information tailored to their unique interests. It was a successful event and the food trucks providing dinner only contributed to the large number of families coming and staying to learn what is needed for their children’s success.
