Baseball: Head baseball coach Seth Schachle: When asked “ What is going to be different this year than last?” says “ Total domination, haha we’ll have a good time”. When asked if he prefers rain or sunshine he says “ What kind of question is that?Of course Sunshine!” We asked what he wanted his pitcher's ERA to be every game, “Zero every game”.
Baseball Assistant coach Trey Lassiter: He is pumped about his first year being apart of the Eagles baseball team. He also says that he is looking forward to a great season. He also states that every player will not be forced to wear eye black and that it's a personal choice. He also wants a manager that is someone that is willing to work hard and is committed to the team's success. He als will put 6th graders on the team if he feels that they are deserving.
Clayton vs Princeton Baseball
The game started with Clayton taking the field for the first time. Princeton took advantage of some mistakes and too a 2-0 lead to begin the 3rd. Clayton was having trouble at the plate with only earning three hits the whole game. Princeton scored a few runs on careless errors by the eagles. Princeton took the Win. The Eagles know that it was the first game and many to go. Clayton is looking forwards to Monday when the square off against Meadow Monday. Until then Go eagles.
Baseball vs North Johnston 3/16
The boys started well with allowing no runs in the top of the first. There were no runs scored by either teams until the Eagles had a good bottom of the 3rd. With great energy from everyone in the dugout, the eagles produced a couple of runs in the 3rd. Clay Clinard started the game on the mound and pitched 5 dominant innings while only allowing 1 run. With help from the closer Bennett Rich he allowed no runs in the last 2 innings, not to mention the great defence behind our two pitchers. The eagles energy kept on rising and had big 4th and 5th innings. The Eagles finished the nonconference schedule strong with a 9-1 victory over North Johnston. Until next time, Go Eagles!
Baseball VS Cleveland 3/20
The Eagles squared off against the Cleveland Rams on Monday afternoon for the first conference game. The Rams scored 5 in the early going but the starting pitcher for the Eagles Camden Kapusta settled in and got in a grove. In the 6th the eagles felt a sense of urgency to score and battled late in the counts and came out with two runs at the end of the 6th. In the top of 7th Cleveland scored two and the lead is now 7-2. The Eagles started a rally and scored to runs, the bases were loaded and we hit a line drive and got doubled up. The eagles were so close to hitting a walkoff hit. The eagles are being positive and happy we were able to fight back. The eagles face riverwood away on thursday afternoon. Until next time Go Eagles!
